Valentine's Special Event

Hey guys! If you are looking for something great to do on Valentine's night, what do you think about attending the 3rd Annual Valentine's Banquet in Centre, AL about 8 miles from the secret? Carl and I have been before. It's only for adults and the guests are mainly local people. The Ryan Robertson Band has played when we attended the banquet. It was a lot of fun. Cherokee County is a "dry" county so alcohol is not permitted but if you love to dance with the one you love, this is the perfect place. If you mention that you are staying at the secret Bed and Breakfast, they will give you a discount. The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce's number is 256.927.8455.

A Note to our Former Guests

Just a note to our former guests...

Thanks for the memories. You guys have given Carl and me some of the most wonderful years of our marriage. We married in June, 1995 and open the secret in July, almost 16 years ago. Since that time you guys have allowed us to share your memories from the honeymoon (some of whom have teenagers now!), to anniversaries, girls-night-outs, bikers rides, family reunions and of course the much needed "Ah-Ha weekends. Money could not buy the memories we have. The laughs around the big table at breakfast, the ball games (AU on one side of the lodge and Bama on the other), the talks I've shared with so many and the special moments that make "Makin' Memories" so priceless in our latter years. You have blessed our lives. I (we) thank you!

Amazing Sunrise at the secret

The sunrise this morning was amazing. My camera did not capture all the golden hues. As the glow reflected on the lake it made it look as if God has poured liquid gold atop the water. It is amazing what one can see when God is painting the morning skies. I wonder if He listens to music while He paints the light into our days.

Elizabeth & Wendell Sheffield (B'ham, AL)

Wendell's a little stinker. You'll have to forgive him, Elizabeth. Look at that face.

We really enjoyed meeting you guys this weekend. What fun. Great conversation and enjoyable moments. Please tell your friends about us and do come back. We will talk about chapter 30. Diann (and Carl, the cook)

Poor Arnold!

Arnold and Elaine, read below the pics.

Arnold & Elaine MCDaniel - Lived Happily Ever After

Arnold & Elaine McDaniel (Verbena, AL)

Arnold and Elaine McDonald are from Verbena. If you haven't ever heard of Verbena and you live north of Birmingham and travel I-65 south, I know you have heard of Exit 205. Yep, Peach Park! If you don't know about Peach Park, you must add it your "to do" list. Traveling south, it will be on your left. It has been our favorite stop for years on the way to Florida. Traveling north, it will be on your right. Peach Park is a most unique stop. Not to sound like Budda Gump, but you will find peaches, homemade peach pies, homemade peach ice cream and more. We love their bar-be-que also. Getting back to the story, Arnold and Elaine and I had an instant connection because Verbena, Alabama is right by Peach Park, one of our favorite traveling stops. So now, we have some made some wonderful friends we can call to share a quick stop with. We'll give you guys a call sometime, ok? Arnold, I loved the look you gave Elaine in the big chair with the suckers!

Don't miss the second picture. I'm sure you guys will....live happily ever after!
Ya'll come back to see us, 'ya hear!

The Helms from Albertville, AL in the Big Chair

Time just flew at the breakfast table this morning, didn't it? We were just on the verge of solving the world's problems, weren't we? Thanks for being our first "victims" for our blog page and letting us make pics of you guys. You guys are the best. Again, thanks for thinking of us.

Me and Miss Dixie, my favorite

Carl and His Chickens

At the Barn

Thank goodness we had a beautiful day today! Carl and I could not wait to play with the animals. The miniature donkeys (36 inches or smaller from the "cross" on their necks) are named: Miss Dixie, General Lee, Scarlett and Prissy. I want my grandchildren to remember their grandmother was from the south, in spite of the fact she married a Yankee.
